SUMMARY:Black Hill Press Anniversary Party
DESCRIPTION:Black Hill Press\, an independent publishing collective dedicated to the novella\, celebrates its first anniversary at The Last Bookstore in Downtown Los Angeles. This innovative publishing company will commemorate their inaugural year in business and all 12 novellas\, with the most recent addition\, the Tuna Bora Collection featuring Sing for Life: Tin Pan Alley by Douglas Cowie\, The Bent by Rachel Kann\, and Bellies and Buffaloes by Tomas Moniz. The evening will include a series of podcasts\, author readings and expert panels. \nBlack Hill Press challenges the future of books\, utilizing audio\, video\, and digital components to supplement their stories and detail their creative journey\, while continuing to pay tribute to the past with special print edition collections. \n“The novella is an outcast of the book world. Often deemed too long to be short and too short to be long. However\, I first fell in love with reading because of this neglected format\, and I know there are people just like me\, busy with deadlines and distracted by mass media\, who are eager to read a quick yet substantial story with significant characters and emotion\,” said Kevin Staniec\, co-founder of Black Hill Press. “We collaborate with some of the most talented contemporary authors and the world’s best illustrators\, striving forward together in this creative process. It’s something the publishing industry abandoned years ago. Black Hill Press works as a family and I couldn’t be more proud to announce our one-year anniversary.” \n\n7:30pm Live Podcast Recordings – Two live recordings of the Black Hill Press Podcast.\n\nThe How & The Why: Documenting the Creative Process and the Creative Purpose hosted by Jon-Barrett Ingels. \nDouglas Cowie (author)\, Tuna Bora (artist)\, and Lon Koontz (editor) discuss their novella Sing for Life: Tin Pan Alley. \nJon Frechette (author of The Frontman)\, Richard Gaffin (author of Oneironautics\, editor of Cherokee Rose)\, Veronica Bane (author of Mara)\, and Ashley Heaton (editor of Sci-Fidelity and Mara) discuss their novellas. \n\n8:30pm Readings – Corrie Greathouse (author of Another Name for Autumn)\, Arianna Basco (author of Palms Up)\, and Rachel Kann (author of The Bent).\n\n\n8:30pm Author Signings\n\nShare this:TweetPrintLike this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related\n
