Perched on top of the Montalbãn Theatre, Rooftop Film Club – L.A. premiered its first season of films this past August. The films ranged from Hollywood classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s to horror cult classics like The Thing. The open air cinema gave audiences a kind of mid-century beach resort vacation away from the hot and buzzing streets of Hollywood below. But, as Fall comes to a close so too does this first season.
Never fear, there is still time to experience Old Hollywood glitz and glamour paired with bubbling drinks and dagger sharp movie dialogue. You can catch one last weekend of cinematic rooftop revelry during the first annual Only In Hollywood Music + Arts Festival featuring over one hundred acts, shows and art galleries scattered throughout dozens of venues in Hollywood over the course of a four day weekend from Thursday, November 5th to Sunday, November 9th.
As a tribute to this prolific event, Rooftop Film Club will channel Hollywood’s Golden Age and showcase tinsel-town’s oldest and most enduring art form in four timeless films. Take in Audrey Hepburn’s iconic fashion in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, follow the complicated love story between Bogey and Bergman in Casablanca, watch Marilyn Monroe play the ostentatious role of Sugar in Some Like It Hot and “get ready for your close-up” with Sunset Boulevard.
“It is a dream to bring our exciting cinema experience to Hollywood. With its amazing history and iconic location alongside the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, we think The Montalbãn is the perfect venue for our West Coast home,” said Founder Gerry Cottle Jr.
Don’t miss the charming bartenders with flashing smiles who serve up craft beers and wines with for moviegoers to sip on while snacking on pop corn and lounging in lush Brighton Beach Deck Chairs equipped with high quality wireless headphones. The experience is so magical that many moviegoers have said that they felt as if it were an attraction at a theme park. The headphones not only block out the murmur from below, but when paired with the night sky it feels as if you are the only person in a planetarium traveling through a galaxy made up of Hollywood movie magic.
