Solitude. Gratitude. Compassion. Mindfulness. Beauty. Suffering. Resurrection. These themes will be represented by one of photographer Andy Romanoff’s images, which are part of the larger gallery exhibition “Sacred Faces” to be featured in the newly-renovated Shatto Chapel at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (FCCLA).
“I am pleased that the first place these pictures will be seen is in FCCLA,” said Romanoff. “There was a time when artists were an essential part of the sacred conversation, and I believe art and the sacred continue to have much to say to each other. The images I am making are portraits, not just pictures. Each one attempts to see the intention of the artist who created the icon as well as the qualities the icon represents.”
Premiere Gallery Opening and Reception of “Sacred Faces” displaying 30 images of photographer Andy Romanoff’s Interfaith Religious Iconography, will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. A brief address from FCCLA Senior Minister R. Scott Colglazier will be followed with words from the artist. The event is part of an ongoing exhibit that coincides with FCCLA’s observance of Lent.
