The annual city-wide event spanned four days with the main festival housed on South Grand Avenue just outside of Walt Disney Concert Hall. The event featured over 100 chefs/restaurants from all over California and the U.S., and over 100 wineries, breweries and spirits.
During the festival auxiliary events were held throughout the city. One such event was the “Chase Private Client presents Lunch at Scarpetta.” Guests toasted at a champagne reception while nibbling on an array of hors d’oeuvres, then enjoyed four splendid courses of cuisine all created by Scarpetta’s Executive Chef Freddy Vargas and Butter Restaurant’s Alex Guarnaschelli (Food Network). The luncheon featured wines from DuMOL, Grable Vineyards, Nellcôte, Roederer Estate and Tre Rose accompanied by vintners/sommeliers Lisa Barriere (Lux Strategic) and Danielle Price (Maison du Prix) and Tyler Olbres (Nellcôte) to educate and entertain guests. Favorites of the afternoon were the DuMOL , Russian River Pinot Noir, 2012 and the Nellcôte, Rosé of Malbec & Syrah, Mount Veeder, Napa Valley, 2014.
Day two at the festival was as savory as it was adventurous. Getting an Uber there was easy, getting one out of there was a mess! But, what an amazing event with great wines & talented/gorgeous chefs. Highlights of the festival included the Coravin airless wine opener, Lexus Ultimate Picnic hatchback with matching handsome chauffeur, Hendrick’s Gin Mobile and sidecar, Charles Heidsieck bubbles, White Rabbit Filipino Fusion Truck, Melville, Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills 2013, all the Grable Vineyards wines and the delicious bites from Chef Nick Shipp (UpperWest, Santa Monica).
