“From our membership & donor base to key collections to valued curatorial & professional staff, the LGBT community is well represented at The Huntington & we want to celebrate it. Thank you for helping make “An Evening Among The Roses” a sold out success!“
THE REASON As a kick-off to Los Angeles area LGBT Pride weekend, The Huntington hosted the always fun and elegant garden party “An Evening Among The Roses” to celebrate and thank the LGBT community for all of its past and ongoing contributions to The Huntington, on June 12, 2015.
THE REVELERS Guests included GMCLA’s Chris Verdugo, Heather & Matthew Lillard, Andrea Vining, BG Casas, Carlos Gonzalez, Rebecca Haussling, Berlin Rodriguez, Bart Verry, Mark Arteaga, Tom Kazar, Jimmy Fenner, Armen Sarkissian, Josh Ertle, Frank Mastronuzzi, Mark Coker, Kirk Stone, Chris Palmer, Rob Carlson and John Castino.
THE RECAP Guests dressed in the height of sophisticated garden party chic while sipping cocktails and taking a little time to smell the roses at the tribute to LGBT cultural contributions in Los Angeles and beyond. Adding to the beauty of the evening among the roses were a giant paper roses flower wall by The Persephone Papers, on the spot custom boutineers, and a variety of drag queens like the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Miss Upside Down Rose Bouquet (not celery) and so much more!
Attendees enjoyed music, food and drinks in the magical rose-laden paradise and even had the chance to glimpse some of The Huntington’s prized works of art. Speeches of appreciation for the LGBT community were given by Rose Collections Curator Tom Carruth and Wells Fargo Greater Los Angeles Lead Region President David DiCristofaro.
