“Our LGBTQ youth deserve a safe place to learn and grow.
Each year, our Alive Music Project visits thousands of

THE REASON

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) invited longtime supporters and new friends to a reception in Pasadena, on November 15th. The friend-raiser, celebrating their return to the Alex Theatre for their Season 37 Holiday Spectacular, was attended by the San Gabriel Valley’s most involved members of the LGBT community.

THE REVELERS   Guests included Deborah Maxson, Mark Coker, Kirk Stone, Damon Dennis, Michael Schlueter, Daniel Calderon, Milton Dellossier, Abdullah Hall and Kevin Bolling.

THE RECAP   Hosted in a mid-century modern estate in the Linda Vista neighborhood of Pasadena, the event included comments from GMCLA Board Chairman and West Hollywood City Councilman John Duran, who highlighted the work that the chorus does outside of concerts and in Southern California schools through the Alive Music Project, as well as across the country through the It Gets Better Project. Artistic Director Joe Nadeau led a small group of chorus members through a sampling of what audiences can expect at the holiday concert, including a song titled “Hanukkah in Santa Monica.” Executive Director Chris Verdugo was missing from the gathering, but guests were informed that he was in Washington D.C. visiting with the FLOTUS at the White House.
