THE REASON For over three decades walker and volunteers have united at the annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles to raise awareness and funds for AIDS Project Los Angeles and over 20 other Los Angeles County HIV/AIDS service organizations. A kick-off reception was held at Madame Tussauds Hollywood, on September 15th. The walk was held in West Hollywood, on October 11th.
THE RECAP Barrett Foa and Pauley Perrette once again served as emcees for the kick-off reception. Guests mingled with supporters, staff, and volunteers on the rooftop of Madame Tussauds while enjoying snacks from El Coyote. The evening closed with swag bags of WEN products by Chaz Dean and private tours of the wax creations.
The day of the walk The Abbey Food & Bar hosted a breakfast with remarks from APLA Board Chair Mark Perrin. Appearing for the opening ceremonies in West Hollywood Park were Mayor Eric Garceti, Jai Rodriguez, Chris Kluwe, Ken Todd, Lisa Vanderpump and Chaz Dean. A closing performance by the Beverly Belles sent the crowds of on their way to begin the 10k walk. Estimations put the number of walkers well beyond 20,000 people.
