In celebration of three decades as the top-ranking daytime television network and the 362 Daytime Emmy Awards won during that time, CBS Daytime commissioned an elaborate exhibit for The Paley Center for Media, in Beverly Hills.
The installation encompassed the first and second levels of The Paley and featured nearly actual-sized versions of the sets from Let’s Make A Deal, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Price Is Right and The Talk, vignettes highlighting significant props/costume pieces, life-size cardboard cutouts of several performers, a donut-wall, literal penny-penny loafers and a floor-to-ceiling CBS Daytime timeline.
The realization of the expansive installation was the collaborative effort of all the shows’ production design teams, under the direction of The Bold and the Beautiful production designer Jack Forrestel. Over the past 30 years, Forrestel’s work has earned six Daytime Emmy Awards of the soap opera’s over 70 Daytime Emmy wins.
CBS Daytime and The Paley Center hosted an equally striking “CBS Daytime #1 For 30 Years” launch party to unveil the exhibit to the network’s personnel, performers and audiences. In attendance were The Price is Right’s Drew Carey; The Talk’s Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Aisha Tyler & Sheryl Underwood; The Bold and the Beautiful’s Ashleigh Brewer, Lesli Kay, Thorsten Kaye, John McCook, Alley Mills, Heather Tom & Jacob Young and many more who mingled with friends and posed for photos with fans.
