The seventh annual Los Angeles Food & Wine festival featured over 15 different culinary/beverage events held throughout the city over four days. The Friday Night Market event focused on flavors from Asia to DTLA featuring revved up classics and spruced up street foods from over 30 glamorous establishments and mobile foodie ventures.
Stand outs in the beverage category included; Cielo y Tierra Wines (co-owned by Oscar-winning musician Gustavo Santaolalla), crystal encrusted bottles from Le Grand Courtage, the always impressive Pinot Noir from Melville, Hendrick’s Gin’s photo booth and cocktail contraption server, Nellcôte Wines, The Venetian Vegas’ “Lakeside” cocktail and Prim Family Vineyard Rosé.
Flavors of the moment came from The Nomad’s Humm Dog, Sumo Dog’s The Yakuza, Chef Ian Gresik’s Smoked BLT served in it’s own dome and Chef Jef Tila’s Northern Thai Crispy Rice Salad. The take-aways: hot dogs are the new height of chic cuisine, gin is in, looks are not deceiving, and rosé is here to stay. — For more information, visit www.lafw.com
