The AIDS Service Center has announced that it will present the founder of Legendary Bingo with a Community Service Award for his fundraising and support for HIV/AIDS charities and causes. The award comes as Legendary Bingo celebrates its 15th anniversary with a three night event beginning on April 8.
Hosted by a drag queen bingo hostess and founder Jeffery “Bingo Boy” Bowman, Legendary Bingo combines bingo with comedic and catty call-backs with lively audience participation. The Celebrity Drag Queen hostesses or “Ballcallers” as they are also known include Porsha Hayy, Calpernia Addams and many others. Bowman said, “Over the years we have had many cool celebrities from stage, television and film donate their time to charity and become ‘Celebrity Ballcallers!”
The Los Angeles Times, L.A. Weekly and The Huffington Post have called Legendary Bingo the “Best Drag Queen Bingo In L.A.”
ASC Executive Director, Anthony Guthmiller will present the award during between bingo games.
According to representatives, Legendary Bingo began in 1998 and has raised more that 4 million dollars for local and national and international organizations including animals rescues, HIV/AIDS and cancer charities, small theater companies, school and college programs, LGBT organizations, as well as charities benefiting the homeless and 3rd world programs for the indigent, and many, many more.
The April 8 event returns to Magnolia Lounge in Pasadena and once again benefits the HIV-related service efforts of ASC to individuals and families throughout Los Angeles County.
