Pasadena Playhouse Announces Star Of FX’s POSE To Star In LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
LOS ANGELES, CA — July 23, 2019 ~ The Pasadena Playhouse announces an award-winning cast for the upcoming fall production of Little Shop of Horrors featuring the classic cult songs and of course everyone’s favorite R&B-singing, power-hungry, blood-thirsty plant.
This fantastically morbid sci-fi musical comedy comes to the Playhouse for the musical theater event of the season with some deliciously devious new twists. The newly announced cast that includes Mj Rodriguez (Pose) starring as “Audrey”, George Salazar (Be More Chill) as “Seymor” and Amber Riley (Glee) as “Audrey II.”
Mj Rodriguez can currently be seen starring as house-mother “Blanca” in season 2 of Ryan Murphy’s series Pose on FX. Amber Riley is best known for her role as “Mercedes Jones” in the Golden Globe Award-winning musical comedy series Glee. George Salazar (Seymour) is best known for his work as “Michael” in the NY Theater cult sensation Be More Chill.
Created by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin), Little Shop of Horrors has mesmerized theater goers for more than 30 years. The Playhouse, known for turning the musical theater tables, as it were — some will remember the Pirates of Penzance production that moved the audience on to the stage with set that included a Trejo’s Cantina & Concession Bar — promises this incarnation with such a diverse cast and close-guarded secrets will be unlike any seen before.
Little Shop of Horrors runs September 17 – October 20.
