Veiwing Of Versace: FX Series Screening At NeueHouse

Allied Pride in association with FX presented

The Assasination Of Gianni
VERSACE
An American Crime Story

The invite-only special pre-screening, held at NeueHouse Hollywood, on January 11, 2018, was attended by several influencers from local  LGBT and fashion circles. The festivities were gorgeous and somber as expected, from lighted display walls featuring Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, Édgar Ramírez as Gianni Versace and Ricky Martin as Antonio D’Amico and floral selfie stations to the flowing Moët & Chandon and signature cocktail La Dolce Passione. However, one of the great delights of the evening occurred even before the screening of the first episode began, guests’ attentions were stolen by a gentleman playing the piano for several moments before a lady in a black gown appeared and beautifully performed an aria, which turned out to be from the episode.

The first episode is harsh in content and in perspective, like a harsh mirror: not only do the present advances in technology make the 90s seem like the dark ages, but the current advances in LGBT rights make the 90s seem barbaric. And, as much as everyone loved it at the time, fashion was kind to no one in the 90s. Just look out for an ensemble on Darren Criss (serial killer Andrew Cunanan) featuring something like 90 shades of yellow. The series and the fascination related to the events that occurred will only propel the recent 90s nostalgia; so bring on the chokers, Monica and Rachel haircuts, and high-waisted pants, but be grateful that society has at least made some progress to be able to look back with 20/20 hindsight.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace is the second offering from the FX true crime anthology television series American Crime Story. The nine-episode movie like series focuses on the backstory of serial killer Andrew Cunanan, based on the investigative book by Maureen Orth, Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U. S. History. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story premieres on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
