CRAFT & COCKTAILS: Art Beyond The Glass II

“After researching a number of local non-profits, we found that many aspects of Art Share LA really resonated with us. From its Arts District location in Downtown to its mission to strengthen the community through its arts programs and affordable live/work spaces for artists, we felt it was right in line with what we wanted to express with the event.”
– Daniel Djang, Art Beyond the Glass Co-creator

THE REASON Some of Los Angeles’ best bartenders gathered for cocktails, community and a cause at the historic Los Angeles Athletic Club in downtown Los Angeles, on June 30. THE REVELERS Spirits  represented at  the event included Bacardi, Becherovka, Leblon Cachaça, Pisco Portón Zaya Rum, Morrison Bowmore, Belvedere Vodka, Java Juice, La Niña Del Mezcal, Cointreau and Angel City Brewing, among many others. Participating establishments included Soigné Group, Cliff’s Edge, The Tasting Kitchen, Connie & Ted’s, The Corner Door, Littlefork, Patina Group and 1886 Bar at The Raymond. Notable attendees included Zahra Bates, Cole’s Red Car Bar Senior Bartender, Daniel Djang, Founder/Editor of cocktail and spirits blog, Thirsty in LA, Leslie and Rob Levy, co-owners of 1886 Bar and The Raymond, and restaurant promoter Lawrence Moore. THE RECAP Art Beyond the Glass is the invention of Bates and Djang. The unique fundraising event featured a variety of spirits companies and a lineup of bartenders from restaurants/bars throughout the city who showcased “their artistry within and beyond the glass.” Featured cocktails included the Becherovka & Coke Ice Cream Float, Campari Sno-Kones and Belvedere Intense Unfiltered Coconut Slushies. Proceeds from Art Beyond the Glass II benefit Art Share LA, a non-profit arts sanctuary founded in 1997.
