Festivities & Fortune: from Camerich LA to Project Angel Food

“Revere your energy, intelligence and strength to find wealth. Share it to find love. Give love to live in peace.”
– Chinese New Year 5th Day reflection.

THE REASON In honor Project Angel Food’s service to the community, Camerich Los Angeles hosted a celebration for the birthday of the God Of Wealth, Guan Yu – on the 5th day of the 10-day Chinese New Year festival, on Feb. 4. The festivities are traditionally held to ensure the favor of Guan Yu and bring good fortune to all.
THE REVELERS In attendance were actors, Tom Lenk, Mark Cirillo, Jack Plotnik, Desiree Hall, Carolyn Hennesy, Sam Pancake, and Drew Droege; TV personalities Marcellas Reynolds and Chi-Lan Lieu; singer Ruby Stewart (daughter of Rod Stewart) and No Doubt’s Tony Kanal with Project Angel Food’s Jacqui Farina.
THE RECAP Project Angel Food supporters and their guests toasted to the Lunar New Year with sparkling wines from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, water from Beverly Hills 90H20 and a gingery lemonade libation rumored to have an undetectable spirit. Culinary contributions from Bling Bling Dumpling and The Confection Co-op sated the revelers while they reflected on the artworks on display by Steve Erle and Heins Kim. The highlight of the evening came with the mini-Chinese New Year parade of White and Red Dragons, musicians and dancers who wound through the Camerich Los Angeles showroom in a snake-like procession.

Camerich LA held the event to kick-off the store’s “Month of Giving” campaign in which the owners, Michael Lin and Stephen Bianchi, have pledged to donate 10% of the store’s February sales (or $10,000, the cost to provide 2,000 client meals – which ever amount is greater) to Project Angel Food. The artwork of Steve Erle & Heins Kim will be on display at Camerich Los Angeles through March 18.
