Holiday Spectacular! Spectacular! GMCLA’s Festival of Carols

“In 1999, GMCLA toured Eastern Europe and Russia. The performance in Moscow was billed as the largest official gathering of gay men ever known in that country.” – GMCLA Artistic Director and Conductor, Joseph P. Nadeau

THE REASON The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles celebrated their 35th holiday season with “Holiday Spectacular: Festival of Carols” at the Alex Theatre, on Dec.14 .
THE REVELERS & THE RECAP GLAAD National Spokesperson, Wilson Cruz attended the performance. The chorus’s new Artistic Director/conductor, Joseph P. Nadeau was introduced, and longtime ASL interpreter, Jon Maher was acknowledged for his visually stunning translations of the music. Also on stage performing was the chorus’s youth ensemble, Outside Voices.

The sold-out concert included a show-stopping reinvention of “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” called “The 12 Rockin’ Days of Christmas!” Posted on YouTube, the fetish-styled performance featured latex and leather clad chorus members atop go-go boxes.
