THE REASON Supporters gathered at a private estate in Eagle Rock for the “Blitzen’s Christmas Store” event benefiting the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles (TCLA), on December 3rd. The pop-up Christmas ornament party was held in collaboration with GMCLA.
THE RECAP Hosts Michael Schlueter and Damon Dennis welcomed TCLA supporters into their stunning home to celebrate and kick off the holiday season with music, sparkle and spending for a good cause. Shoppers enjoyed causal performances by chorus members while browsing a huge selection of vintage and avant-garde ornaments from Christopher Radko, Katherine’s Collection and many more. TCLA Executive Director Lisa Marchbanks and GMCLA Artistic Director Joe Nadeau kept things merry and bright as the crowd mingled over mulled wine and seasonal sweets.
The Mission of the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles is to fiercely empower Trans and gender expansive people to love their voices. Before and after transition, Trans people often experience a dysphoria that their voice and bodies don’t match. Singing while living their truth empowers Trans people to accept themselves and their voices. – TCLA
