Music & Sparkle: Blitzen’s TCLA Ornament Party

“This is a place where I am accepted for
who I am and every­thing that I bring.”

THE REASON   Supporters gathered at a private estate in Eagle Rock for the “Blitzen’s Christmas Store” event benefiting the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles (TCLA), on December 3rd. The pop-up Christmas ornament party was held in collaboration with GMCLA.

THE RECAP   Hosts Michael Schlueter and Damon Dennis welcomed TCLA supporters into their stunning home to celebrate and kick off the holiday season with music, sparkle and spending for a good cause. Shoppers enjoyed causal performances by chorus members while browsing a huge selection of vintage and avant-garde ornaments from Christopher Radko, Katherine’s Collection and many more. TCLA Executive Director Lisa Marchbanks and GMCLA Artistic Director Joe Nadeau kept things merry and bright as the crowd mingled over mulled wine and seasonal sweets.

The Mis­sion of the Trans Cho­rus of Los Ange­les is to fiercely empower Trans and gen­der expan­sive peo­ple to love their voices. Before and after tran­si­tion, Trans peo­ple often expe­ri­ence a dys­pho­ria that their voice and bod­ies don’t match. Singing while liv­ing their truth empow­ers Trans peo­ple to accept them­selves and their voices. – TCLA
