Pride & Perseverance: 2013 SGV Pride Festival

“San Gabriel Valley Pride Organization is dedicated to educating and raising awareness of the community at large about the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender culture, and to instill a sense of pride and respect among members of the LGBT community.” 

THE REASON The San Gabriel Valley Pride organization held its annual LGBT festival, “Pride Is!” at Memorial Park in Pasadena, on Sept. 28.
THE REVELERS Participants included, Celebrity Cruises, Great Autos of Yesteryear, PFLAG Pasadena, Tom of Finland Foundation, Vroman’s Bookstore, BentCon, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly as well as a variety of local exhibitors.

THE RECAP The festivities included, a culinary and spa experience by Celebrity Cruises, a classic car show sponsored by Great Autos of Yesteryear, and an Authors’ Forum with local LGBT authors, the Big Draw LA (a community draw experience where you can create a “road tile” for the “Road to Equality”) and the City of Pasadena’s “We the PPL” project collected oral histories for their documentary project.

In the adult section, Drag Queen Bingo hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence entertained guests  alongside an erotic art exhibit from the Tom of Finland Foundation and wine tasting sponsored by Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.
