Presented by Wells Fargo, the 41st Anniversary Gala will honor U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist and U.S. Women’s National Team (soccer) team standout, Megan Rapinoe, with the Center’s Board of Directors Award. Megan made headlines by coming out and becoming one of the few “out” Olympians at the 2012 Olympic Games in London where there were only 23 out Olympians of the 10,490 participating athletes.

“At our 41st Anniversary Gala & Auction, we’re planning to talk about what we’re looking forward to and the forward-looking work of the Center to help realize that future… The sports world is a frontier where the battle to eradicate homophobia has a long way to go. By proudly and bravely using her international platform to come out, as one of the few openly LGBT athletes at this year’s Olympic Games, Megan has set a powerful example for other high-profile athletes, has helped to inspire people around the globe, and has helped to change hearts and minds regarding LGBT people.”
