THE REASON The annual Five Acres Golf Classic and Old West inspired Round Up Gala was held Annandale Golf Club, on October 5, 2015. The proceeds benefit Five Acres‘ programs for providing safety, well-being and permanency to children and their families in Los Angeles.
THE RECAP Golf contestants braved wet weather throughout the day on golf course while competing for the top awards, before jumping into their finest Western wear for the evening festivities at the 5A Corral. Golf trophies came in the form of art work created by the children at Five Acres. A mechanical bull was set up to test the agility of the cowboy crowd. Needles to say that the bull prevailed more often then not, leaving some riders bruised literally and metaphorically. But, nothing a good bourbon cocktail from the bar couldn’t fix.
A variety of items were on the auction block, including a Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 Titanium/Black/Gold men’s timepiece valued at $14,000, one week stay at a luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas, dinner for 8 with Annandale Gold Club’s Chef Jim Harringer, luxury patio furniture valued at $9,000 and Lollaland baby/toddler products. Auctioneer Jim Ciccolo held court during the live auction, and Five Acres CEO Chanel Boutakidis took a moment to express how important everyone’s participation was for the children who benefit from the services provided by the organization.
