THE REASON Pasadena society gathered at the Armory Center for the Arts for the launch of Five Acres’ permanency campaign, on November 6th. The event also marked the unveiling of Five Acres’ Boy 5A sculpture, which is the symbol of the campaign and the children that organization hopes to help.
THE REVELERS In attendance were representatives of the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Charitable Foundation, including Nick Cacarnakis, Hilda Hernandez, Natalie Hill, Matt McIntyre and many others. Others in attendance included Hope de la Rosa, Devon Beck, Berlin Rodriguez, Tina Forrestel, Kizzy McGlothin, Armen Sarkissian, Chris Serrano, Mona Ghossein and Ioakim Boutakidis.
THE RECAP The event was led by Five Acres CEO Chanel Boutakidis and Five Acres Communications Director Rebecca Haussling with a special address from actor Sam Jaeger of the TV show Parenthood. Boy 5A was ceremoniously unveiled to guests by his sculptor, artist Matthew “Scout” Segotta. Guests learned more about the foster care system and how they themselves could change the system more than they ever thought possible. After seven weeks of moving from foster home to foster home, Boy 5A will reside with his permanent adoptive family, the Berkshire Hathaway Homes Services California Properties Charitable Foundation. The foundation was an early adoptee, even before the official launch of the campaign. In addition to giving him a permanent home, the foundation will also be giving him a permanent name. LATHER skin care is a huge supporter of Five Acres and donated gift bags for guests.
